From the Pacific to the Atlantic, beaches to mountains, the United States is full of great parks and locations to get out and see. But your experience at these incredible sights may not go as well as you'd like if you don't have the right equipment. Whether you're on your first or thousandth trip, the right piece of gear can make a real difference on your trip.
Here are some handy pieces of gear that are sure to make your next trip the best.
Insulated Bottle
An insulated bottle is the best drink holder for any weather. A hot coffee or tea is the best way to warm yourself up on a cold morning, and your drink still being hot at lunch is icing on the cake. Or, when it's hot out, an insulated bottle will keep your ice frozen and your water cold from sunrise to sunset.
2. Lightweight Towel
The differences between a beach towel and a thin, lightweight camping towel are night and day. Regular beach or shower towels are thick and take up a ton of space. Alternatively, a camping towel made of synthetic materials can weigh as little as a few ounces and be small enough to fit in your pocket. Some of these towels can hold as much as 8 times their weight in water, and at night, you can hang your towel up and trust that it will be dry by the morning.
3. Stuff Sack
From ultra-light backpacking to car camping, storage space is a limited resource. With a stuff sack, you can ensure your big, warm sleeping bag won't take up too much space in the trunk of the car (everyone else needs to put their stuff there too!). Just as the name suggests, stuff your coats, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, and more into the sack and compress it to a size a bit more manageable.
4. Camping Stove
Having a personal camping stove is more convenient than a campfire or even a larger camping stove. A major perk of a personal camping stove is that it can tear down and fold up small enough to fit all the parts in its own cooking pot. Investing in a stove with a heatsink (as seen in the photo) will let you get much more use out of your stove. The heatsink will help protect the flame from wind and allow you to get more even heating in the pot. Better distribution of heat will also help you use less fuel so you can get the most out of your canisters.
5. Collapsable Chair
Somewhere to sit is usually the last thing on everyone's mind when packing for their trip. It's not until you have to sit on a rock (or on the ground) that you realize you should have brought a camping chair. Many camping chairs are small enough to fit into your pack, but there are plenty of luxury chair options available. Just don't leave it unattended or you'll come back to someone else using it!
